Jay's artistic photography captures nature to reveal textures, depth of detail, and forms that are inspiring. He can even express motion through still images as seen in the girl with double hoola hoops. Patterns in nature are often times overlooked, but Jay has a talent for bringing them to life from a snake's tiny face, to a turtle's shell and even colors of a fish. My favorite piece is "Betrothed". This is a pair of Fiddlehead Ferns that are bending towards each other almost embracing. One can even see the patterning of each fine hair and discover the beauty of nature. After spending time on his website you feel at peace like after a walk in the woods. It's serene, tranquil and reminds you to stop and notice the magic of a common scene. Fire and Ice is a great example that is of snow covered trees backlit with the flame-colored sky at sunset.
