About Susie Adams

I am an acrylic artist specializing in "upcycling," which takes "found objects" and turns them into works of art. Media include driftwood, mussel shells, rocks from Lake Superior, furniture, lumber, baskets, basically anything that tickles my fancy. I am a retired biology and anatomy teacher which allows me to bring my subjects to life---they are realistic.

I have known Susie since we were kids together in Copper Harbor, MI. When we reconnected on facebook I had the chance to see many of her works of art as she posted and shared them. I was genuinely impressed with her style, which is clean and colorful. The images have elements that are honest and simple, adding a lot to any room without cluttering a wallscape. And the wonderful Florida- inspired colors are vibrant enough to make a beautiful moment in any room as well. I am a fan of Susie's paintings and artworks. Please check them out for yourself.See MoreRead Less"

Sherry and I have indeed known each other for nearly sixty years....OH MY! Her opinion is very powerful to me because she is an author of books wise and mystical; she is aware of special feelings and nuances others may miss. I just wish she could see some of my work done on Lake Superior rocks and driftwood. Then, she might be over the top! LOL! Thank you!

Susie is a very talented artist. She's very detailed in all she that she does. Her unique style of painting on recycled items really is an excellent form of repurposing. I love how she often makes her paintings 3 dimensional by adding texture, and adding items, like seashells. She also does paintings on furniture, like tropical scenes on tables, chairs, etc."

Wow! What a terrific review...Belinda certainly does know my work, as she is actually describing pieces she has seen. Yes, I love to add texture and make my work stand out. I also use a variety of media on which to paint so that adds to my unique art. Belinda has helped me collect some of the tables, chairs and bamboo pieces used in my work.

I've known Susie since high school. I was fortunate to see Susie's handy work, first hand, when we worked on our 40th year High School reunion together. Absolutely beautiful center pieces made by hand, paintings which brought out the beauty of our era. She is a very passionate person."

Thank you Joyce. I appreciate the fact that you see the passion I put into every piece I do. I love my work, and the relaxation and peace it provides me; and the hope that others get some pleasure from my loving efforts....again thank you.

Talented and creative. I love the way Susie blends her colors to get that deep, yet soft appearance in her floral paintings. I also like her choice of subject matter on which to display her creative genius."

Thank you Debbie. It takes lots of time to get those colors just the way I want them, and the acrylic medium allows for me to do just that. It is very forgiving..... I believe Debbie is referring to my paintings on broken roofing tiles, rocks from Lake Superior and scrap lumber. I paint on anything that "talks to me"....

Susie is very creative and her use of bright colors can cheer anyone. When she paints, she can be as exacting as a camera and as mood-lifting as a helium filled balloon. Lovely artist."

Amazing talent and a wonderful spirit that comes alive in her art. We hung some of her paintings in my restaurant and I always got great compliments on every piece."

How very kind of Michael. We had a great working relationship. I adored his restaurant, and sent all of my friends and colleagues there to enjoy his unique twist on American Favorites. Michael allowed me to have a venue to showcase some of my floral art, which was greatly appreciated. It was a super experience and so much fun to collaborate! Thank you, Michael.

Charlie has seen my work at Quaker Steak and Lube and other venues, as well as at my home gallery. His opinion is valued very highly. We went to high school together and attend events in the community together.

Susie is a talented artist, putting her heart into each creation. She paints things that are special and have meaning to her."

I have known Barbara and her husband, John for many years, having taught with John before he retired. Barbara owns one of my earlier pieces...a painting of wild daisies with a saying I wrote in calligraphy painted down the side. Barb's statement regarding putting my heart into my work is very true, and I have a hard time selling my work, as each piece holds a special memory for me.

Kathe owns one of my creations designed for our high school reunion. It is one that includes mixed media, a blending of my painting and the real world to create a three-dimensional effect.

She did a great job with art for our high school reunion."

Susie's Reply

I painted 5 murals with relief of our area or of Viking ships to be auctioned off as as a fund raiser: made over 220 hand-painted bamboo napkin rings( from rough, filthy bamboo) with the reunion name written on them (and did those in four days with no sleep) and a painted hibiscus or palm tree; made 22 glass sea scene centerpieces on mirrors surrounded by hibiscus for the dinner, and decorated the food tables; provided antique palm trees to surround the disc jockey. Yes, I did just a little to make the reunion look nice for everyone.See MoreRead Less

Thank you, Donna! Donna owns one of my originals...a little sea scape. I decorated her house for her while she was gone one week-end. Lots of fun, but got no sleep...the ideas just kept flowing!

I only gave her 1 star because the web site would not let me leave until I rated her. I am sure she does not deserve this poor rating, but I have really not had any interactions with Susie as an artist so I can't give her an accurate review."

Susie's Reply

This is very sad, and it hurts my overall rating. I wish the site was not designed in this fashion. Nancy's father and I taught together for many years, after I enjoyed the benefit of his instruction as my teacher many years before. She was really trying to help, but the site made her hurt me instead.
