John Anthony Miller is one of the best artists I have had the pleasure of knowning and working with. Creative and filled with new ideas. He is rooted in the past but always looking for new innovations. I have known him for many years and we have worked together on several projects. Honest, and passionate busnessman, I would recomend him in any operation. He has helped me in the writing of several books and provided illustrations. The biography of Mystery Writer Erle Stanley Gardner comes to mind. "Erle Stanley Gardner's Ventura: The Birthplace of Perry Mason" would not have been finished or published without his help and skills as an illustrator.See MoreRead Less"

I may be biased but I do believe in telling the truth. No one is more precise, detail-driven and concerned with excellence than John Anthony Miller. When it comes to facsimile dust jackets, no run-of-the-mill, crank 'em out hurry-up jobs here...he takes his time and gives you the best product you can find anywhere. Everything he produces is guaranteed...don't like it?...send it back and try to find something better for the same price! Not possible. His refusal to sell you second-best will be obvious when you see the results. Beautiful dust covers, beautiful books, the rare and the wonderful are all available from Phantom Bookshop. He is unique.See MoreRead Less"

Phantom Bookshop is top notch! I met the owner John Anthony Miller through mutual online art friends. I noticed that John was selling some of his own personal collection of Ray Bradbury's works that were signed by Ray. Since I know John personally knew and was a friend of Ray Bradbury (who was great friends with my Uncle George Clayton Johnson), I without hesitation scooped up a signed copy of "The Illustrated Man" (without even seeing a picture of the actual book) from John. John is a very trustworthy bookseller and thoughtfully included documentation of his friendship with Ray Bradbury along with the book. The best. :)See MoreRead Less"

I have dealt with hundreds of dealers in rare books, prints and documents. None of them have been as honest and fair as John and his Phantom book store. Even side - lines like preserving the dust jackets of Edgar Rice Burroughs and other authors and producing facsimiles of those dust jacket have turned out excellent and provide joy to collectors.
His judgment and expertise is top notch, his choice of items to sell express that expertise. You can do no better than to purchase a rare - historic or collectable book or work of art from Phantom Bookstore.See MoreRead Less"

John Anthony Miller - We go back about 15 years back when we investigated many of Ventura's most haunted paranormal locations along with the well known City of Ventura historian Richard Senate. I know John to be passionate about everything he does and extremely meticulous with his work. I remember one time he gave me one of his beautiful drawings and I am forever thankful.. What separates John Anthony Miller from the other professionals is that not only he has the talent for his work, he takes great pride in everything he does.....Highly Recommended!!See MoreRead Less"

I have purchased some of John Anthony Miller's detailed and unique prints. He hand engraves and etches copper plates for each print series. As well as being an artist, he is also well connected in the literary world. He has personal memories and connections to many of the authors of the literary texts he shares. The autographs are personal and legitimate. He has taken care of each of these treasures, and they are in as in good condition as he found them. He is a pleasure with which to do business.See MoreRead Less"

John Anthony Miller is that rarest of merchants: he is a writers' bookseller. With the Phantom Bookshop he provides rare, hard-to-find, and signed editions -- and each book comes with the story of where he found it or when he met the author. When you buy a book from him you experience something rapidly disappearing these days, namely the life of the book you are buying. I've never met a finer bookseller in my life -- and we've never met in person! Buy books from this gentleman!See MoreRead Less"

I always look forward to reading John's intelligent and profound written words. He is a deep thinker and always interesting in fields others haven't even thought of..
As a professional artist myself, I recognize J
ohn as an outstanding artist with a steady output of beautiful work.
I have always received encouragement and compliments from him on my work, especially at times when I truly needed it to keep producing in a world that is a tough sell when the economy is down.See MoreRead Less"

John is a brilliant artist whose works have been featured in many galleries and museums across the US. He is also an expert in rare books who can steer a novice like myself into a lifelong quest for the best examples of the written word. I would highly recommend him to anyone searching for the highest quality in either art illustration or collecting fine books."

The most principled businessman I've ever dealt with and a truly gifted artist. I hope to one day own an original of his work. Ray Bradbury loved him for many reasons but it is integrity of his soul that was at the very top of Ray's long list."
