Review by Douglas B. Kennard

Andre has demonstrated his professionalism in architecture in a variety of ways. The most recent example is his completion of his Master degree in Architecture at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to that time, he provided designing services for Oakridge, one of the largest Amish-owned home-building companies in Ohio. The company is known for its superior quality construction of homes for high-income clients. Additionally, he did designing for a number of commercial buildings in his community and elsewhere in the state of Ohio. Andre also applied his skills in producing a comprehensive community development plan for a Columbus urban neighborhood, which included housing renovation. Another feature of his work is designing habitations that are both environmentally sound and sensitive to the human ecology of a given locale.

Concerning human relations skills, Andre has the ability to help young adults discover and utilize their potential. He has done this in several ways: assisting two female college students to put together the community development program, noted above; designing several workshops in which he trained students at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in community development; lecturing in classes and challenging students towards racial reconciliation through community-building; serving as advisor to the environmental club at Kenyon College. Additionally, he and wife taught young adults in principles of marital courtship, which included their own four children.
