With so many places to look such as the Internet sites, newspapers, phone books, referrals, Better Business Bearau, etc.... how do you as consumers sort out who to use for your Home Services? Do you know the importance of choosing a licensed contractor over an unlicensed tradesman or handyman?

View their Website (if they have one) and see if they have listed their qualifications, other work they have done, experiances, and so forth. I agree with others, to a point. Independents may be an option if they are reffered to you as thier work has already been done and has satisfied the owner with the quality of their work. Google them and see how they are presentiing themselfs in other social networks. Here is an example. Review this if you may.

I google them and use the Better Business Bureau web site. I also ask for references from them.

I ask family & friends for suggestions and then interview prospective tradesmen.

Hiring a licienced contractor or sub contractor can ensure the work being done is completed correctly. Liciensure hold profssionals accountable for there knwledge about their work. Working off of referals is also one of the best resources, hiring a professional that has been reccomended to you can be a valuable assest. At Roman Interior Design, we work along side professionals that are both licienced and reliable. http://romaninteriordesign.net/
