How do I send to past clients for recomendation?

Question

You recently sent an email with a "copy and send email" for me to send to clients to get recommendations. I sent dozens out only to find my clients had to log in and register. I copied the email exactly as explained. What did I do wrong and how can I re-send this email with the correct link so these people are not forced to register and login which most do not want to get involved in.
